Julefest: Nordic Market, Taste of Norway & Viking Bonfire

Kick off the holiday season in Little Norway at Julefest, an annual tradition hosted by the Poulsbo Sons of Norway at their lodge on Liberty Bay.
The Nordic Market brings together local artisans and vendors offering handcrafted gifts and holiday décor, including rosemaling, stained glass, bentwood boxes, jewelry, hand-carved ornaments, knitted hats and mittens, candles, soaps, and more. Shoppers can also find jams, jellies, and gingerbread, enjoy a cup of tea, and watch traditional crafts like blacksmithing and wheat weaving in action. A silent auction rounds out the market.
Midday, the Taste of Norway serves traditional Norwegian food for purchase, including ertesuppe (pea soup), pølser (hot dogs), kjøttkaker (meatballs), vaffler (waffles), and rømmegrøt (cream porridge).
As dusk falls, head to Waterfront Park for the Viking Bonfire. The Poulsbo Sons of Norway Vikings escort the Santa Lucia Bride to shore by boat, where she lights the Julefest bonfire, followed by the Vikings’ reading of the Winter Solstice Proclamation.
