Description
One of Poulsbo’s best-kept secrets, Wilderness Park is an 11.5-acre forested retreat sitting right in the middle of the city — just across from North Kitsap High School on Caldart Avenue. The easy 1-mile out-and-back trail winds through dense Pacific Northwest forest along Dogfish Creek, with wooden bridge crossings, shaded canopy, and the kind of quiet that makes you forget you’re steps from downtown. Rated 4.2 stars on AllTrails, it’s a favorite for a quick morning walk, an after-school nature break, or a dog-friendly stroll (leashes required). Wilderness Park also connects to the Park to Park Loop — a 1.56-mile trail linking Wilderness Park and Raab Park via a mix of paved and natural surface trail with some elevation gain. Best access is from the North Kitsap High School parking lot, crossing Caldart Avenue to the trailhead. Free to visit, open year-round.
