Verksted Gallery is one of Washington State’s oldest cooperative art galleries, a beloved Front Street institution that has been showcasing the work of local artists in Poulsbo since 1987. The name itself is Norwegian for “workshop” — a fitting tribute to Little Norway’s Scandinavian roots and to the spirit of creative community that defines the gallery. Today, Verksted represents 30 local artists whose work spans an impressive range of media and styles, making it one of the most diverse and accessible galleries in the region.
The gallery’s collection includes original works in watercolor, oil painting, mixed media, colored pencil, and photography, alongside three-dimensional work in pottery, sculpture, jewelry, textile art, wood turning, and quilling. Particularly distinctive are the Norwegian bentwood boxes — a traditional Scandinavian craft form that feels right at home in Poulsbo — alongside woven wheat pieces and other handcrafted items that reflect the area’s cultural heritage. Art gift cards are available for those who want to give the gift of original artwork.
Verksted participates in Poulsbo’s Second Saturday Artwalk and hosts artist collaboration events throughout the year — check their website for upcoming shows and featured artist spotlights.

The NW Dog is downtown Poulsbo’s dedicated dog boutique, bringing a carefully curated selection of high-quality treats, food, toys, supplements, outdoor gear, and clothing to Front Street. Owner Kirsten spent nearly a decade as a veterinary assistant before following her lifelong dream of opening a shop built around her passion for dogs and the people who love them. That background shows in every product she stocks — she knows what works, what’s worth it, and what dogs actually love.
The shop is a fun destination for dogs and their people alike. The treat wall is a particular favorite, stocked with bulk treats and regularly refreshed with new finds. Food offerings include premium and natural brands like Fromm, Orijen, Acana, Natural Balance, and Tiki Dog, alongside supplements, Austin & Kat CBD products, and enrichment toys. For gear and accessories, you’ll find outdoor wear, harnesses, apparel from WAG City Clothing and DOOG, and playful gift items from Park Life Designs and FuzzYard. The NW Dog also offers self-serve dog wash services and nail trims — available by appointment Wednesday through Friday via the website, with walk-ins welcome.
The shop is dog-friendly, of course — bring yours along.
Open Monday–Friday 11am–5pm, Saturday–Sunday 10am–6pm. Located at 18954 Front St NE, Suite 102, in downtown Poulsbo.
Stepping inside The Junction Diner is like taking a trip back in time. A hole in the wall with good home cooking — that’s the honest pitch, and it’s exactly right. Tucked into a tiny space on Viking Avenue, this old-school breakfast and lunch diner has been a Poulsbo institution for decades, drawing a loyal crowd of early risers, tradespeople, and anyone who knows that the best meals don’t come from fancy kitchens. The menu is unapologetically classic American: homemade chicken fried steak, corned beef hash with crispy chunks of tender meat, animal-shaped pancakes for the kids, and pies made by a local pie expert. Omelets, French toast, the Junction Scramble, patty melts, hot turkey sandwiches on Turkey Thursdays, and fresh coffee round out a menu built entirely around comfort. Counter seating puts you right in the action alongside the regulars, and the owner’s warmth is half the reason people keep coming back. Open Monday–Saturday 5:30am–2pm. Closed Sundays.
